Find the elven mage from Aranea's vision[edit | edit source]

The elven mage from Aranea's vision is Nelacar who is staying at the The Frozen Hearth in Winterhold.
Speak to Nelacar[edit | edit source]
Speaking with him reveals that there exists a soul gem which can be reused: Azura's Star. However, that soul gem was lost along with the mad mage who was experimenting with it, Malyn Varen, when he fled with a few loyal students to Ilinalta's Deep.
Find Azura's Star[edit | edit source]
Proceed to Ilinalta's Deep, which is located along the north shore of Lake Ilinalta, north of Falkreath.
Note: (Possible bug) Inside, the pathway from the first area to the second (Ilinalta's Deluge) may be blocked by a large boulder, save and reload (or exit the dungeon and reenter).
Find the Broken Azura's Star, all the while keeping an eye out for soul gems.
Tell Azura / Nelacar you are ready to enter the Star[edit | edit source]
To restore Azura's Star, the Dragonborn must choose between the following options:
- Returning the Broken Azura's Star to Aranea Ienith, which will ultimately lead to a reward of Azura's Star.
- Returning the Broken Azura's Star to Nelacar, which will ultimately lead to a reward of The Black Star.
Destroy Malyn Varen's soul[edit | edit source]
Malyn Varen's soul is trapped inside the broken star and the Dragonborn must enter it to kill him. Three quite tenacious Dremora Vakynaz (contain Daedra Hearts) will try to protect the mage though. This is done with the help of either Nelacar or Azura herself.
The Dragonborn then either receives Azura's Star from Azura or The Black Star from Nelacar.
Note: Supporting Azura will turn Aranea Ienith into a possible follower.
Video[edit | edit source]
Notes[edit | edit source]
- After defeating Malyn Varen's soul inside of the Broken Azura's Star, quick looting of his body will let the Dragonborn grab a Staff of Sparks and a rare Hooded Black Mage Robes.

Star Quest 1 in the 27th century is a futuristic 3Dspace combat and flight simulatorvideo game for DOS which was developed by Virtual Adventures Inc. in 1995.[1]
Gameplay[edit]
In a manner that has been compared to Nomad and Elite, the player takes the role of a volunteerpilot and completes various missions which include direct fighting, protecting ally ships and surface structures, commanding wingman attack formations, and participating in friendly space races against other pilots. As the player completes more missions, ship upgrades (like better engines and weapons) become available, and new missions are unlocked.[2][3]
Development[edit]
The game was developed by Virtual Adventures Inc., a Canadian developer.[4] It was founded in November 1994, headquartered in Quebec, Canada with a vision to build itself as an independent video games developer company since its establishment and to be popular to the game lovers.[5][6]
A sequel, to be titled Star Quest 2: United Galaxies, is currently being developed, and is planned to feature 3Dreal-time strategic multiplayer action.[7] A Kickstarter campaign was launched to fund the development of the game.[8]
Reception[edit]
The game received generally favorable reviews from contemporary publications. PC Answers rated the game 73%, criticizing the lack of innovation and its 'horrendous techno music', but nonetheless saying it is 'an enjoyable shooter with a good variety of missions'.[9]Atout Micro, a Quebec-based publication, reviewed the game and concluded it was 'a nice local product'.[10]
Star Quest 1 was included on PC Games's August 1996 demo CD.[11] The game was consistently ranked amongst the 'Top 40 Most Popular Games in the World' throughout 1996, as published by PC Games Chart.[12]
